10 weeks ago i left home and it still feels pretty good. Some people ask me if i miss home a bit, well there was one moment i wanted to be back home. Jason Molina played this weekend his sad, heartbreaking and tear ripping songs at the Crossing border Festival in the Hague. Although Jason visited the Netherlands many times (also with his band Song Ohia) i never seen him play live. Instead of that i am banging my head with 600 japanese fans to the slow postcoremetalcore of JESU! This is allready the third act i see live in Tokyo, that has been playing at the Urban Explorers Festival before. I just missed Opiate because i was on the plane to Korea. It seems that Tokyo loves the UE acts ;)
What is it about Japan and taking fotos. I think we joke a lot about the japanese tourists: they see Europe through the eyes of their camera. But now i know why. They enjoy their total freedom, because here in Japan it is almost nowhere allowed to take pictures. Shibuya crossing from Starbucks, forget it! The gig of Jesu, forget it. There is always somebody popping up with their arms crossed telling you, you can not take pictures. So enjoy the illegal pictures below.
Luckily it is allowed to take pictures of the biggest symbol of Japan: mount Fuji (almost 4000m high). Climbing season is over, because the top of the mountain is covered with snow and ice. Normally busses run up to the 5th station and then you only have to hike 6km to the top. But withouit wheels i had to start at the beginning. Up and down the 5th station (2070m and halfway) is a 25km hike in total. Next time i can start at the 5th station and i can tell that i walked the whole mountain.

And jason molina song at the end.
1 opmerking:
Nou WJ, wij waren er wel bij. Jason Molina was fantastisch en de mislukte aankondiging door een literaire muts hilarisch.
Veel plezier en mail zodra pc thuis weer werkt.
Groet,
Edwin.
