HAM SA-SEO-Y0

I am sorry to say, but we can't make a broadcast of our weddingevent. There is no internet connection at the place we are getting married. We tried also to arrange something with movies by mobilephones, but also that seems not to work. It is really a pitty, because the ceremony is interesting and fun. But we will upload pics and movies just after our wedding. Today we had the Ham ceremony, which was very exiting.

The day before our wedding we have the HAM ritual. The Ham is a little box wich contains our wedding certificate, Su Youngs birthcertificate, some jewelry and 5 types of grain (which symboles good luck and fortune for the family.

The family and friends of the broom prepare this box and bring the so called HAM to the brides family. They offer the HAM to the family and friends of the bride, but they should get something in return like money and alcohol. The family and friends of the bride seduce the carriers of the ham so they can get the HAM inside.

My family and friends are not here, so my brother in law (Soo Hwan) and some dutch friends from Su Young, who are happen to be here for our wedding, take the honours. Sunghee and my mother in law show give a fierce battle to get them inside. The whole ritual is very exciting and all the neighborhood kids come out and take a peek at the fight on the street.

My brother in law is the leader of the pack and the carrier of the HAM. thats why he is wearing a squid mask.
To be honest, it is a smelly mask.

And than the negotiating starts. My father-in-law and Sunghee are trying to get the HAM inside.

If the pulling and money won't help enough, there is always one thing that helps in Korean society: alcohol!

And then....Finally my mother-in-law gives one big push and she succeeds to get the Ham inside.
